Students participate in activities which playfully draw attention to the &#8220;normal&#8221; routines of everyday life, and learn about the history of relational and socially engaged art practices. <br \/><br \/>Plenty of field trips, guest artists and out-of-classroom experiences. <br \/><br \/>This is a fun subject with a small group of students. The subject is led practicing artists working in this important growing field.<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\n\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>Topics covered:<\/strong><br \/>Art and the Social<br \/>Walking as art Mapping social structures<br \/>Allan Kaprow&#8217;s Happenings and Activities<br \/>Mindful\/absurd Toothbrushing<br \/>Modes of Engagement (Antagonism-vs-Amelioration; &#8220;The Artist as\u2026&#8221;)<br \/>Art and the Everyday<br \/>Psychogeography<br \/>Art and Play<br \/>Creating play spaces<br \/>Re-working Work<br \/>Observation and Documentation<br \/>Modelling the Social (Relational Aesthetics)<br \/>Script-Performance-Event<br \/>Ethics of Engagement<br \/>Collaboration in the creative arts<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\n\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>Assessment Tasks:<\/strong><\/p>\r\n<p>\r\n\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>Task 1: Activity Exercise &#8211;<\/strong> (aka &#8220;making things weird&#8221;) &#8211; experiment with an ordinary activity in the flow of your everyday life.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\n\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>Task 2: Walking Exercise <\/strong>-experiment with walking as a performative, embodied, social form of artmaking.<\/p>\r\n<p>\r\n\r\n<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>Task 3: Intersections Project &#8211;<\/strong> collaborate with 2-3 students on a self-devised project which engages in the public sphere around art and the social.
